Before the blog entry for Monday, it's time to post some pictures of Sarlat accumulated over a few days.
Place de la Liberté, where all the action is. It's the center square for the market day, and it's the place to get a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, and a meal, and then people watch.

Place du Marché aux Oies, Square of the Geese, where geese have been sold since the Middle Ages.

The covered market and its seven-ton doors.

Manoir de Gisson — A 13th-15th century historic building. The building has belonged to several noble families, including the famous Gisson family, who gave their name to the manor. If you look closely, you will see the bronze statue of, "Le Badaud" (onlooker) by Gérard Auliac, installed in 2002.

A tourist walking by.

Cathedral of St. Sacerdos, originally a Romanesque abbey church of the 12th century, it became a cathedral in the 14th century, but was not completed until 1685.

Lanterne des Morts (Lantern of the Dead). This tower dates back the 12th century. There are towers like this in the central and western parts of France, and are thought to indicate the position of a cemetary, but there are other theories as well.
