Singapore II – Day 3

Tuesday, January 30

After another breakfast in the room, Larry headed off to his meeting at the Hyatt.

Eileen headed off to the Singapore Zoo for the day, taking the NS MRT to Khatib, then the Singapore Zoo bus (Mandai Khatib). The day was spent wandering the large park, catching a couple of shows – California sea lion of all things and a rainforest show — and both had some end comments about our responsiblity for the envirnoment.

Being Singapore, most of the animals were outside in good-sized real-as-can-be habitats. Saw a white tiger, very rare.

The zoo also had a large enclosed overhead-netted area for rainforest birds and small animals similar that you just walk through and get close to the free-ranging animals. The setup was similar to the Jurong Bird Park where I was two years ago.
Cotton-topped tamarin, flying fox (bat), ring-tailed lemur.

Fragile Forest habitat.

The only chilled area was a building for their one polar bear and wolverine.

The park had a lot of greenery and water and also displayed a lot of flora.

Eileen then headed back the way she came, hit an outdoor Starbucks before returning to the hotel for a shower and rest.

Tuesday’s night dinner was at Tandoori Corner on Boon Tat Street near Raffles Place downtown with a few of Larry’s work buddies. We actually ate there 2 years ago and it’s still rated high. We had a good meal.
